Attributes of a Successful Realtor

A successful realtor is an individual who knows how to buy and sell property and make a living doing so. However, there are a lot of personality traits and attributes that are important for realtors to have in order to make a living and be successful in the real estate market.

First of all, a successful realtor needs to be a good salesman. You want to be able to buy property and then turn around and sell it or else represent individuals who want to sell their homes and manage to sell them and earn a commission. A realtor who is a good salesman may be able to make a very good living buying and selling homes. However, a realtor who is not a good salesman may starve if they are unable to sell any houses. People will buy house from individuals who can “sell” it to them and those who can’t just won’t make a sell. It really is as simple as that.

Another important attribute of a successful realtor is communication. It is impossible to be a good salesperson if you can’t communicate and the better you communicate the better a salesman you will be. So, this attribute really goes hand in hand with being a good salesperson. Believe it or not but communicating means more than simply being able to carry on a good conversation. It means being able to discuss topics in a way that is informative and engaging and answers all your clients questions without confusion. Too often people feel they are communicating but both sides are interpreting something different. So, a realtor must be able to communicate clearly so there is no room for interpretation. This is very important.

Style is also important when it comes to a successful realtor. Nobody wants to do business with a realtor that looks like a slob regardless of how discriminatory that might be. So, any successful realtor will take the time to wear nice clothing, jewelry, groomed hair, and makeup if applicable. If you look successful then you will give off that air and make clients feel as if you can handle their situation.

These are just a few of the attributes a realtor needs in order to be successful. There are others as well, but these are the basics. Fortunately, most of these attributes can be learned or enhanced by taking classes and practicing.
